What We Do

  • Data Import Managers

    Importing data from a wide range of disparate or incompatible sources into a single unified format is challenging. Few data providers are willing to adjust their data output to suit your needs, and many provide inflexibility or limited manipulation tools.

    At Clystnet, we have developed data import systems that get round the majority of these problems. First, we make it easy for the data provider to deliver the data. Either by providing an API they can connect to, or working with their own API, we have easy to configure connectors that save time and reduce barriers. If your data provider doesn’t have an API or isn’t willing to connect to one, then we can also accept your data in a variety of other ways. These include FTP, SFTP, SSH and even as an email attachment (or within the email body itself).

    The format the data arrives in shouldn’t cause a problem. We are happy to work with most types of data formats with APIs, such as JSON or XML. If the data is being sent as an attachment or via FTP upload, then data may have a type of separator, such as comma, tab , colon, pipe or space.

    We have produced an import mapping system that allows you to easily import a sample of the data and then map it to your own fields. We also make it easy to manipulate the data, by applying rules to the data, carrying out calculations or even adding fresh data based on external events. We can even split data held in a single field into separate fields . Duplicate checking is also performed at this stage.

  • On Screen Data & Charts

    We utilise a number of graphing engines, but most commonly Highcharts. By applying filters to the data, and allowing intelligent zooming in, we make it easy to understand what’s happening in your business. In addition, if you need access to the data that was used to produce the charts, we can easily add an export button to give you a download of the data (or it can be displayed on the screen). Examples of the types of charts we have produced include line, bar, scatter, map, radar and pie charts.

       Filters

    Data Reporting

    We can provide access to your data using a variety of methods. Typically, we find that data either needs to be displayed on screen in an east to understand and customisable manner, or exported. Data is extracted for use in other applications such as desktop tools like MS Excel, or other online based systems via an API. Our custom reporting and export systems make this easy.

  • Custom Reporting & Data Export

    Pre-set charts make viewing the most important data easy, but often charts or tabular reports are required that aren’t ‘common’ and need to be custom built. To enable this to take place we have developed a number of reporting tools that are easy to use, but allow the user to build highly customisable tables or graphs with ease. Using a drag and drop interface, reports may be easily developed, with the data then manipulated using ‘if then’ rules (if the data contains value x, then change value y). You can also summarise the data automatically. Once you’ve built the report, you can view it as a table or graph.

    Users will then often want to extract the data for external use. Our custom systems will allow you to send the data via a scheduler to an SFTP, FTP or API of your choice. Alternatively, you can attach the report to an email and have it sent to any email address. For example, weekly sales figures, revenue forecasts or monthly breakdowns can be sitting in your inbox on a Monday morning.

  • Data Forecasting

    The ability to make realistic forecasts of sales is vital to any growing business. By utilising our data import and aggregation engine, businesses have access to all of their business data in one place. Our forecasting systems allow the user to look at previous year’s sales on a week by week basis, and then using interactive tools, allow them to compare where they are at any point of the year against where they were at the same point the year before, and how they are against target. The target itself may be calculated automatically applying a lift from last’s years data, but also taking into account any factors that could have increased or decreased sales (such as bad weather, bank holidays or internal issues).

    The forecast system output can give a week by week (even day by day) breakdown of sales against target and the previous year and at a glance show progress and performance. We can also plot profit and growth projections dynamically. As we use ‘live’ data, the system is always up to date.

  • Data Automation

    Without automation, data from multiple sources or even a single source will nearly always need external manipulation. Whether this is carried out manually using MS Excel or similar tools, or semi-automated, it’s a task that takes time, and can be a source of errors and inconsistency in your data.

    We allow you to automate data at source and at export. In other words, during the import process, rules may be applied to edit, delete or even create new data based on a set of rules.

    Our export system allows you to adjust the data to suit its intended use. Again, we allow the data to be fully edited, added to or deleted. We also allow the user to add ‘if then’ rules to help with this process.

    We can also utilise a Workflow based automation engine if you are utilising our CRM. This allows triggers (such as field changes or new data) to run tasks, such as send emails, update records or add user tasks.

    One thing that these processes have in common is they help to keep the data consistent, they minimise defects, and most importantly they save time. On a recent project, it was estimated that a single automation task we had added (taking 10 minutes to set up) saved over 20 man days a year!

  • Marketing

    Having imported, manipulated and sorted your data from multiple sources, as well as exporting the data, we find many of our customers want to use it for marketing. We have worked with a wide range of clients to enable this to take place either directly (using an SMTP gateway) of via a direct link to external marketing systems such as MailChimp or Mandrill.

    Marketing campaigns may be linked to the report system, use their own searches or be rule based. For example, emails may be sent after a product is purchased or before departure date if a future booking is made. We can also control the type of email sent based on the product purchased.

    Email analytics allow the user to understand the effectiveness of the email campaign. Our 360 reporting system allows us to track when an email has been directly responsible for an individual vising a site, or even buying a product.
