We met with Sarah Pepper during the last week of October 2009. At this stage she was keen to have a working eCommerce web site in time for Christmas - ideally by the first week of December, allowing them to benefit from the Christmas market. The web site had to be fully customisable by her staff and required the followingeCommerce  features:

  • Customizable Product Pages
  • Product Images Uploadable
  • Programmable Release Date for Products
  • Private Prices Option
  • Volume Discount
  • Product Discount
  • Unlimited Sub-Categories
  • Picture Associated to a Category
  • Programmable Release Date for a Category
  • Define Access Control
  • Basket Module
  • On the Fly Quantity Edition
  • Guest Shopping
  • Manage Terms and Conditions
  • Address Management
  • Automatic Mail on Status Update
  • Permanent Access to Purchased Downloadable Products
  • Send Personal Email to Customer
  • Automatically send support email to customer for pending orders
  • Automatically cancel uncompleted orders
  • User-end Order Reviews
  • Coupons with start and expiration dates
  • Coupon assigned to categories and/or products
  • Coupon assigned to product bundles
  • Coupon assigned to users
  • Available and Expiration Date Features
  • User/Customer Assign/Restriction Features
  • Encryption of all the secure files
  • Third party payment integration
  • Double security challenge on payment systems
  • Automatically manage payment confirmation and refunds
  • Allow https (SSL) on critical pages

We discussed the layout and theme of the site, and established her range of products, preferred shipping methods and other factors which would enable us to complete what would normally be considered a three month project in a little over 4 weeks.

Our project plan was delivered within 24 hours, with the build commencing a further 24 hrs later.

We utilised Joomla as our CMS of choice. It utilised an intuitive and easy to use CMS interface making it easy for end users to configure, thus reducing training time and the normal learning curve associated with CMS systems. We evaluated a number of eCommerce solutions, but arrived with VirtueMArt as the ideal solution. It offered all of the requested features, and woudl cope with teh site as it grew, offering many aditional features which we thought woudl be useful in the future. VirtueMart has been available for a number of years, and is now regarded as stable and effective.

We delivered the eCommerce site on time and on budget at the end of November, with training provided at a date chosen by Sarah Pepper. The site was live with products and generated income over the Christmas period.
